What language translations are available in Askbot?

in what languages can askbot speak? what about the future?

Btw, could you help translate? You can either fork Askbot on github and create localization in your language or just start with translating this file:

http://github.com/ASKBOT/askbot-devel/raw/common-question-view/locale/en/LCMESSAGES/django.po

and email it to admin@askbot.org

Instructions for translation will be added soon. Here is some basic info on the subject.

Thanks!!!

If I do this translation with a normal Editor program, should it run?

Hey, thanks! Yes, a simple text editor will do. I will update instructions, but basically you will need to translate only strings on "msgstr" lines. There are also some tricks with plurals - I will explain that shortly - tomorrow morning before the conference session starts!

Great, you should be able to now access url http://askbot.org/rosetta and start translating. There is a 'zh-cn' localization with some strings. Should I set up 'zh-tw'? Thanks!

Hi,

I'm translating Askboot to galician. At this moment is the most advanced translation in Transifex but I don't see <gl> locale in github. I will finishing in few days.

As member for a linux user group and cultural association we are planning support users with this software in our language. Must we perform any steps for? Could I do something about? We need a 100 % acomplished translation.

Thanks!!! I see the translation on Transifex, just pulled it to the repository - it is available on github. Just continue with the translation on Transifex, I will be copying messages to the github every few days.

I can join Japanese translation team.

(Since I found someone might have already started working on it here, think I should contact the person listed first).

I see. So..., is the person listed in the link I cited working on a translation on different stuff?

that's not an askbot repository, the official askbot repo is on github, https://github.com/ASKBOT/askbot-devel/ . Just pick the easiest method for yourself - either git or transifex.

Right now the best localizations are Spanish and English.

Chinese localization is out of date - could somebody fix it up?

Askbot does not yet support right-to-left languages properly.

In the near future - within a month - expect Russian and German translations.

Can you help out? Here is the beginning of the explanation on how to get started.
