Should moderators be able to change users karma?

Imagine that you are an admin/owner of the forum - would you like moderators (users with moderator status) to be able of changing users reputation?

Should this function be allowed to moderators?

well, downvoting is not accessible to most people here. I guess it's impossible to use voting yet for a "poll"-like function.

I'll just add an answer that people can upvote if they think otherwise; that's better anyway, I think, because it allows us to see the total number of responders, not just the net vote. (It has the side-effect of perhaps inflating my karma score)

to add further subtlety, what if moderators were allowed to add/subtract, but only up to certain amount per user per week? Or what if karma change required multiple moderators to approve? (this could be simply an agreement between moderators, since presumably moderators are trustworthy).

well, this scenario seems to be so unlikely that it well may be not worth codifying, at least not right away. Of course we'll have to see how often there is a need to manually change someone's karma.
