How is the number of views calculated on askbot?

Hello, I notice that all the questions on askbot have many views, and I also noticed that if I click a question and then go back to home page, and then click again and go back, the count only updates one time. But still there are many views on questions, specially considering that there are few users and many have a "last seen" date longer than a month, and that the number of ansewrs and comments is low.

So how are these numbers possible? How do the count works?

btw, I'm working on the instant notifications, but the changes involve more than just that (an on-screen "envelope" icon will be added too) so it will take a bit longer.

(Older answer is overwritten - pls take a look at revisions, if you care)

Number of question views shown is the number of absolute unique visits per session. Robots are filtered out. Anonymous viewers are also counted.

There is up to 60 seconds caching delay so far - may be removed in the future.

This question got quite a few hits before the robot filter was added, so the view count is quite high.

Is that fixed already? The view count is not increasing so fast now.
